Turkey for Two Christmas Tournament
Yesterday, the Ballymena LTC Social Events Team organised a fun tournament for our members.
Twenty BLTC members joined the event, where they were all vying to win two free range turkeys, kindly sponsored by Mario's Auto Electrics.
The format of the event was as followed -
20 Minute Timed Rounds (6 Matches in Total) - Players play as many games as they can in the allotted time.
No advantage scoring. If the score reaches deuce, it’s a sudden death point to win the game.
If the score in points in a game is even when the round ends, a sudden death point is played to win the game.
Changing Partners - At the end of each round, the losers stay on their court, while the winners move up a court.
Both pairings then mixed their partnerships up.
The members who took part all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, stating how they loved being able to play with so many different partners, some they wouldn’t normally get the chance to play with.
This event allowed various club membership types to come together. There was social members, league players, students and juniors all competing in the one event.
Once the matches were over everyone came into the centre, where we had a lovely selection of refreshments provided by the participants.
It allowed the members a chance to socialise, have a chat and reminisce about the wonderful year of tennis at the club.
A massive congratulations to our two juniors who won the event, Ashton and Jessica.
Both showed excellent play throughout, and were the deserved winners.
The whole tournament was played in great spirits, with laughter, encouragement and comradery on display.
It was lovely to see all sections of the club come together, enjoying each others company and having an absolute ball (no pun intended!)
The Ballymena members are a hardy breed, they didn’t let the sometimes blustery and at times rainy conditions deter them. It added to the event, as everyone had to adjust to the conditions, while it gave way for some “comic” shots!
Thanks again to everyone who attended.
We look forward to holding more social events like these throughout 2025, so keep a check on our social media pages and website for more details.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all
