Junior Captain’s Day 2025 (Information)

9th Apr 2025

Junior Captain’s Day 2025

On Saturday 12th April, Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club will be hosting their Captains Day.

This is a fun event to symbolise the end of the 24/25 tennis season before the new membership is open in May.

Junior Captains, Jessica Alexander and Peter Gamble have chosen Autism NI as their chosen charity this year for Captain's Day.

The club is currently working towards their Autism NI Impact Award and they believe this is a wonderful opportunity to fundraise for this worthwhile charity.

Throughout the day the Captains are hosting a variety of activities aimed at all ages and abilities.

Players can enjoy playing their favourite tennis games, competing in fun matches, while enjoying refreshments afterwards.

There will be a mixture of both on court and off court activities.

The coaching team and committee will create a selection of tennis carnival style games to get the players competitive juices flowing, in a fun environment.

The match plays will be time based continuous tie breaks, along with a fun one point shoot out tournament.

House Points will be on offer throughout the day!

Jessica and Peter have organised 2 cake sales.

On sale will be buns, cupcakes, doughnuts and cake. This will be provided by the BLTC Parents.

There will be a primary school children session which runs 9:00am-11:30am, followed by our secondary school session running 2-4:30pm.

We will stop half way through for refreshments before coming back out to enjoy some more tennis.

Parents along with their family and friends can feel free to come in an avail of the cake sale and make a donation.

Those attending have also been asked to partake in the "Colourful Dress Down Day". where they are challenging members to dress in their brightest colours. They can also wear the Autism NI colours - blue, green and white.

All donations by Ballymena LTC members and their families would be greatly appreciated.

To donate you can use the link below -

To help ensure the Captain’s Day runs smoothly we would ask members and their parents for their help.

They can help by -

Bringing  “One” Item for the cake sale. This can be - cupcakes, traybakes, cakes, doughnuts etc.

If parents could bring “one” other item for some extra nibbles. This is something convenient, drinks, crisps, sweets, fruit, lollies, croissants, sandwiches etc.

We can’t cook in the sixth form centre but we have access to a fridge and freezer.

Also if any parents are available to help us set up, look after the cake stalls, tidying up etc please let Barry know.

There will be collection boxes provided on the morning for Autism NI, so when purchasing something from the cake sale, a donation would be kindly appreciated.

Using the just giving page is the handiest way to give a donation, so if that is more convenient for you please do this.

We hope you all enjoy the event!

Thanks Jessica and Peter for all your hard work!
