Our Performance Juniors participated in another supremely competitive BLTC Team Challenge event, this time themed around the ever popular Laver Cup! Team Europe were captained by Sofia Jackova and Team World by Jessica Alexander, two friends off court and rivals on it!
The Non playing captains were Pol McAleese for Team Europe and Peter McCrum for Team World
Each team played 8 rounds of matches, both singles and doubles, with various pairings being used throughout!
The most intriguing part of the afternoon was the use of the 'Ace' and the 'Joker' card by each team.
The 'Ace' card meant the team that played it gained an additional 3 points for every ace, with the 'Joker' card meaning every double fault was -3 points for the opposing team!
Both captains thought long and hard about which rounds to use their cards to gain the upper hand, however both Sofia and Jessica decided to use their 'Ace' card in the final round!
With the scores being extremely close going into the final and 'Triple Points' round, it was Team Europe who eventually pulled away to claim the win!
Congratulations to Team Europe and well done to everyone who participated, it was a fantastic afternoon!
The Team Challenge Cup sponsored by The Party Zone Ballymena, will be presented to Team Europe during the Junior Awards and Celebration Morning on Saturday 2nd December.
