Parents Working Group
Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club have started a Parents Working Group for the 2023/2024 season and beyond.
A variety of organisations have established parent working groups, where the role of the parent in their child/children’s club is integral and very much valued, for the club to run efficiently.
The implementation and running of a parent’s working group varies from club to club, below you can find some suggestions and ideas of how how we wish to run our group.
The Running of Club Events
It is always beneficial to have extra help during special club events. This could be for our junior tournaments, award mornings, festivals, open days, seasonal social gatherings etc.
General Club Administration
As our club grows, it would be terrific to use the skills and expertise of the parents to help with the general week to week running of BLTC. It is important we look to have long term support solutions in place. We are looking to continue growing the strong relationship we already have with our parents for years to come. Parents can look to help with the general upkeep of the club.
These roles can range from D.I.Y., writing club newsletters, implementing promotional/advertising campaigns, financial advice, social media plans or even taking on a more prominent role on the BLTC Committee in the future.
Provide Additional Coaching Support (As a coach, assistant/volunteer)
The club has forged long lasting partnerships with a variety of coaching and volunteering organisations over the years. This includes the Professional Tennis Registry, Andy Dowsett System 9, Tennis Fundamentals for coaching qualifications and Be Collective through Volunteer Now for volunteering.
The local council helps to offer grants for those wishing to go on coaching courses, information which the club can provide you with.
We also would be very thankful for any parent who would wish to help assist one of our coaches on the court throughout the various coaching sessions we currently offer.
If you decide to become part of the BLTC parents group, we will look to:-
Ensure it’s a flexible arrangement
The club fully understands that parents/guardians have many responsibilities, whether at home or in the workplace. The parent working group are simply looking for parents to lend their help/expertise on occasion, there will be no expectations placed on you, as any help whatever the capacity will be greatly appreciated.
Where possible we will try and communicate with the working group remotely. If you can assist the club from home, without any physical commitment, then we would absolutely appreciate this help.
A team effort
By having a group of parents as part of this working group, we will be able to ensure their will be a variety of opinions and expertise shared. It means you won’t feel burdened with assisting the club as each person can offer something specific.
The premise of the BLTC parent working group is to further enhance the community ethos which we already pride ourselves on. We want to continue building friendships and relationships within the club.
We want to forge a long-lasting relationship between the BLTC coaching team, committees and parents. This will be a partnership, where we will look to work together to better Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club for years to come.
