Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club

A week in the life of a club member

Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club members cannot individually book tennis courts whenever they wish, as we use the Ballymena Academy courts. Members play will be during assigned court time.

During the weekends we run our Junior Social Club. This takes place on Fridays and Saturdays. Each year there are four, ten-week blocks of coaching. Junior members will be given the times of their coaching sessions by the Director of Coaching (Barry Clarke) at the beginning of each term.

Senior Social Tennis Times

Day Time
TUESDAY 6-9PM
THURSDAY 6-9PM
SATURDAY 11-2PM

Senior members can book hourly slots with the booking secretary (Mary Goodwin). During these sessions doubles take priority, however if courts are available, singles games can then be played. We run hourly slots, during in which you will be paired with 3 other players, either of your choice, or the coaching team can assign you three players of a similar level.

Senior members have the opportunity to book their “preferred hour” each session, along with a “possible” hour. This is currently done via WhatsApp but will be moving to online booking shortly.

For example you could say your preferred hour is 6-7pm with a possible hour of 7-8pm on a Tuesday. You will do this for each session – members can change their times each session at their own convenience.

League/Tournament Play

Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club members do have the opportunity to play in various leagues and tournaments throughout the year if they wish to. This is through the Belfast and District Tennis Leagues and official Tennis Ireland/Ulster Tennis regulated tournaments.

These will be advertised to juniors and senior members once entry dates are published
